Where did all the respect go?

I have had it! I'm fed up! It's time to BITCH!!



I have never particularly liked TV commercials. Most of them, at best, are mildly sweet and/or amusing (like adorable white puppies playing leap-frog with rolls of toilet paper). At worst, and this applies to most of them, they are inane, childish, insultingly stupid attempts at customer manipulation. They are the optimum illustration of how low the bar of our self-respect has been dropped.



Take for example a certain breakfast cereal that appears to be concerned for the food resources in the United States. They seem to believe that the only meal we get is breakfast. How do I know? Because, THIS cereal purports to contain 100% of all the nutrition we need on a daily basis. Because... OMG... we might not eat anything else ALL DAY!



Idiots.



Personally, I enjoy food and I do not want to live on breakfast cereal.



Then of course, there are the "lost leader" commercials; like the car company that offers three models "all for $199.00 a month". Really? I'll take one in red, one in white and one in blue and God Bless America!



And don't get me started on the drug-pushing pharmaceutical companies!



I despise mind-controlling, money-grabbing companies that believe we all have the intelligence of a gullible 3 year old.



Now if I could just start a revolution that incorporated respect for others as one of its top ten principles!

First, we hang all the politicians

I can't believe the choices (and I use that word very loosely) we are being given in our upcoming Presidential election!

Mr. Obama; a greenhorn youngster with chronic hyper-idealistic syndrome accompanied by acute inflammation of the ego. This kid has the disfigurement indigenous to the typical politician; a forked tongue hidden behind a disarmingly charming smile.

Senator McCain; makes a loud and long point regarding his opponents lack of experience, then brings in a woman with the experience of all of one or two years to step into his shoes as President should anything happen to the codger. Why? Because she is wise in the world of management? Because she has been around the world and dealt with foreign leaders? I think not. It might be because she agrees with him, or maybe because he wants all those voters who thought Hillary Clinton would have been the better choice. In my opinion, Senator McCain made a huge and unforgivable mistake with his choice of running mate. He underestimated the intelligence of his voting public and the power of the Google search engine.

I don't have anything against a black man or woman in the White House. I'd use the term "African-American" but it does not apply to Mr. Obama. (That's another blog...) As long as the person has the credentials, the experience, and the balls to do the job right, I don't care if he/she is sky-blue pink with purple polka dots! But that is a big if. I don't think Mr. Obama applies.

I don't have anything against a woman in the White House. In fact, I look forward to having a woman running this country. As long as the person has the credentials, the experience, and the um, well ..., OK, intestinal fortitude to do the job right. You get the picture. But I don't want a woman lurking behind the curtain, fiddling with the levers and knobs and one particular red button! Particularly not one who plays on the emotions of families in distress ( "you'll have a friend in the government" quote by Palin to the families of disabled children), who talks green and spends millions on more drilling, more hunting and fishing and other forms of destruction of the last of our unblemished homeland.

The icing on the cake is that neither one of them, or their V.P. pics can keep their idle promises anyway... not without Congress and the House behind them. And we've seen how well THAT works in the past eight years. Besides, they are all politicians... what do they really know about how to manage the United House of America?

Me? I think I'll vote for Dave.

After reading more than a few blogs on this site, I think I'll take a chance. I have done this before; briefly and without much enthusiasm, but there are a couple of bloggers here that I find truly inspirational. I haven't their skill with words, but I'm old enough to voice my opinion without too much fear of retribution, so here I go. Dear Friends. Once more into the bitch - er- breach!
